NGC 2174 - The Monkey Head Nebula
This is the same nebula as the other photo, but is has
been taken through an Optolong L-eNhance Dual Narrowband Filter.
In this image, the red/orange color is the light emitted by
ionized hydrogen gas and is referred to as "hydrogen alpha" or Hα.
The blue glow is from doubly ionized oxygen or OIII. This color
palette is called the HOO palette and is similar to the SHO or
Hubble Palette made famous by the Hubble Space Telescope.
